Dramhalí, Goddess of Time

Dramhalí (Diatian name Vanzhaki, meaning four-legged) is the Diatian Goddess of Time and Pestilence. She's one of the most instrumental gods in turning the others against Tyriel Anamadaí during the White Magic War, as well as playing a key part during HALLOW when she switches timelines around to stop most of the fatalities from the Sunbomb War..

She is also known as Broshenya in Index Case.

Appearance

Dramhalí has two main appearances. The first is a relatively normal antlered white-tail doe, although with longer legs and bigger eyes than any actual deer would have. This form is where her Diatian name comes from, and it was the form she used before figuring out how to speak fluidly with a humanoid form. Yes, an uncanny-valley deer trying and failing to speak English is as terrifying as it sounds, and the only Diatian who wasn't terrified by it was Freyja,

Her other is a humanoid faun-like form, with coarse dappled fur and large moss-draped antlers, heavy cervid ears and tail, and deer hooves. She almost always has a long algae-soaked braid that she ties the Eve Hourglass to in order to have it nearby in an emergency, and occasionally uses it like a weapon by swinging the Hourglass around. If the braid is absent she instead ties the Hourglass to a thin golden chain and holds it by that, but it's a rarer change to her appearance by the time of Year5k.

She has a third form of sorts iterated off of her faun one that deities not under her refer to as Piozhaio or Pio-pio (loud laughter). The most striking change in appearance is a snake-like unhinged jaw, with flexible bones that allow her to stretch the mouth wide enough to swallow a seven foot tall man whole. She uses this mouth to consume mortals and deities that piss her off, as well as perform her role of heart-weigher.

Dram is infamous amongst the other Diatians, their deities, and even Tye herself, for her habit of using this conventionally terrifying appearance as a “test” of sorts to decide if someone's worthy of being befriended. She does this with every single being she meets, both mortal and immortal. If they pass the test she shifts back to the faun appearance and stops trying to scare them; if they fail, she deems them unworthy and proceeds to scare them at every available opportunity. Andrei calls it petaki (mini heart-weighing)

Iejan

Dramhalí's iejan is the Eve Hourglass, the origin of time in this universe. It allows her fine control over an infinite amount of alternate timelines, from which she can pick and choose to replace the current timeline. Despite outwardly giving the impression that she can reverse and slow time, in these cases she's just instead shifting through timelines faster than a mortal can perceive.

She needs the Eve Hourglass physically present to use as a lens for her timeline magic, which has led to Xavik Elixio making several attempts to cut her braid and steal it. Unfortunately for him, Dramhalí's built different and scares him off every time, one time hitting him in the nose with it.

Dram technically doesn't need the Hourglass in order to use normal magic or to change forms, but she has it with her at all times anyway so it doesn't make much of a difference.

Domains

Her three domains are heji (time), lamanka (rot), and peta-peta (heart-weighing).

Time

Time is Dramhalí's title domain. It's her job to use the Hourglass to “fix” things endangering Earth and Lacuna by shifting around timelines, and to keep both worlds safe from greater existential threats. She normally isn't meant to intervene in smaller problems, but being Dram she absolutely does poke her nose where it shouldn't be, and has a habit of using her timeline shifting for personal gain.

During the White Magic War Dram continues to fulfil her title domain role, but starts treating Tye and those loyal to her as “threats” and does all she can to keep them away. Combined with Ivory's Stratosphere Curse, it means Tye's effectively banished from getting anywhere near Earth's surface, and thus near the moon twins.

Rot

Rot, also called Pestilence, is Dramhalí's second domain. Everything mortal eventually decays and rots, and she makes sure that part of the cycle of life continues. To do this, she has a unique magic form that kickstarts cell death, and using the glints in her realm can send the magic to Earth and Lacuna. It's an incredibly serious role that she does not take seriously in the slightest.

Dram has figured out how to use this pestilence magic to “curse” mortals, by using it on them and then using the Hourglass to speed up or slow down the decay however much she wants.

Peta-Peta

Peta-Peta, literally translating to “heavy-heavy” but better meaning the weighing of a heart, is a role Dramhalí fulfils with regards to the organisation of souls.

After death, a soul appears in Spring, the Afterlife, and is led through by Kamatan to the gates of Sic Taivan Decaelí, where Tye then decides what will happen to the soul. If they've lived a good life they get returned to ether. If they've either lived a bad life or otherwise can't move on due to something like white magic contamination then Tye sends the soul on to Dramhalí.

Dramhalí decides the final fate for the soul. Using the Eve Hourglass she will look through the soul's life like watching a movie, but condensed into an apparent instant, and what she sees will form her judgement. Most often this means a bad soul being sent to Summer or Winter depending on what punishment she thinks is worthy, although she can and has sent souls to Koilos if they're considered a danger. Condemned souls are then eaten, usually dramatically and while she's actively trying to scare them. Very very rarely she may decide that Tye's made a mistake, and send the soul back to her to be returned to ether, and this is the only way for a condemned soul to safely leave Dram's realm.

Dram's role as heart-weigher becomes a very important point of contention during the White Magic War, as Dram stops co-operating with Tye and the Season deities, overwhelming Tye at a crucial point in the fighting.

Personality

Dramhalí is overly-dramatic and bubbly to those she considers friends, excitedly dancing and singing across the Diatian palace. She has absolutely no concept of an indoor-voice and can be heard a mile away, especially if she's yelling at someone or in an argument with one of the other gods.

With people she doesn't like she's far meaner, taking every opportunity to freak them out. Her favourite method is loudly threatening to eat someone in excruciating detail, which is usually more than effective, especially with Xavik.
